CF512.EXE
                         INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
 
 
    This program allows the COMPAQ System Configuration Program, CF.EXE 
    (version 1.10 preferred), to run on a COMPAQ SYSTEMPRO which has its 
    base memory set to 512K.
 
 
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
 
    COMPAQ SYSTEMPRO
    COMPAQ MS-DOS Version 3.0 or greater
 
 
WHO SHOULD USE:
 
    Use this program if you encounter any problems (running out of 
    system memory) while running the System Configuration Program, CF.EXE
    on the COMPAQ SYSTEMPRO with 512K base memory.
 
 
HOW TO USE:
 
    1.   Copy CF512.EXE and CPQ$ETUP.OVL from the distribution diskette to 
         your COMPAQ System Configuration diskette.
 
    2.   Use DOS command "rename" to change the name of the CPQSETUP.OVL 
         file (on your COMPAQ System Configuration diskette) to CPQSETUP.
 
    3.   Use any editor to change your CONFIG.SYS to the following:
 
                   DEVICE = A:\HIMEM.EXE           (see note)
                   SHELL  = A:\CF512.EXE
 
         NOTE:  HIMEM.EXE should be on your COMPAQ System configuration or 
         User Programs diskettes.  If you do not have it, contact your
         COMPAQ authorized dealer for a User Programs upgrades.  In the 
         interim, you can remove this line form your CONFIG.SYS and run 
         only CF512.EXE.
 
    4.   You can run CF.EXE by booting from your COMPAQ System 
         Configuration diskette (as usual).
 
    5.   To save memory, CF512.EXE no longer uses the dispatcher, SD.EXE as 
         the shell.  Therefore, you will need to run DIAGNOSTICS of your 
         computer from your DIAGNOSTICS diskettes.
 
    Comments:
 
         You can enter any command line parameters that you would have 
         used to run CF.EXE.
 
         To set your SYSTEMPRO base memory to 512K, please contact your 
         COMPAQ authorized dealer for the program, CPQMEM.EXE, version 
         1.0.
 
 
EFFECTS ON YOUR SYSTEM:
 
    While running CF.EXE this program provides an extra 64K to DOS 
    starting at 0E000h.  If HIMEM.EXE is loaded first, it will also give 
    DOS another 64K in high memory.
