PATCH NAME:
PKT3270.COM
ENVIRONMENT:
This patch is needed by any Compaq machine which has an SLT/286
keyboard attached, while running Packet/PC Inc's 3270 Emulation
package. The emulation package works over an asynchronous
modem. The modem must be present or the emulation package
will not load.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
Problems occur when the Packet/PC package is configured to use
CTRL+NUM, ALT+NUM, or SHIFT+NUM as hotkey combinations. The state
of the Numlock key sometimes gets out of step between the keyboard
and DOS, or between the keyboard and the 3270 emulation program.
This patch drives the Numlock state of the keyboard to match that
of the emulation program, or DOS; depending upon which is active.
This patch loads and executes the Packet/PC .EXE file.
INSTALLATION DESCRIPTION:
1) Load the patch PKT3270.COM into a directory which is defined
in the path declaration, preferrably the same directory as
Packet/PC Inc's PKT3270.EXE.
2) Rename PKT3270.EXE to PKT3270!.EXE. This allows the previous
load and execute command line entry of PKT3270 to be used as
before.
3) Enter PKT3270, and operate as before.
COMMENTS:
1) Any messages normally generated by PKT3270.EXE will be
presented as before.
2) PKT3270.COM uses 736 bytes of additional memory. Its impact
on processing performance is negligible.
3) PKT3270.COM will terminate immediately after PKT3270.EXE
terminates.
