                     INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

INTRODUCTION:

     VIDSAVE.COM is a utility program for use with QUARTERDECK's 
     DESKVIEW software.  It saves the video mode at the time DESKVIEW is
     started and restores it upon exit.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

      Running QUARTERDESK's DESKVIEW on one of the following:

           Deskpro 286N
           Deskpro 386/20
           Deskpro 386N
           Deskpro 386s/20
           Deskpro 386/33L
           Deskpro 486/33L

WHO SHOULD USE:

      Deskview, upon exit, sets the screen to 80 column by 25 line 
      regardless of the mode active when it is started.  The units 
      listed above support 50 line by 80 column as well as a 
      host of 132 column modes.

HOW TO USE:

       VIDSAVE.COM is executed once before DESKVIEW is started (to save the 
       active mode), and after DESKVIEW is exited (to restore the saved mode). 

         1.  Copy the program VIDSAVE.COM from the distribution
             diskette to the subdirectory containing deskview.
         2.  Using an editor, create a batch file for starting
             DESKVIEW. Insert the following lines in the file:

             vidsave LS
             dv
             vidsave RU 

             Note : L = LOAD, S = SAVE, R = RESTORE, U = UNLOAD

         3.  When the package is successfully installed, you will get
             the following message:

               VIDSAVE.COM V1.00 Installed
               (C) Copyright COMPAQ Computer Corp.  1986

             If the package is not successfully installed, an error
             message will be generated.

EFFECTS ON YOUR SYSTEM: 

     1.  The program will use approximately 1000 bytes of system memory.
     2.  Once installed, the program may be unistalled by executing
         "VIDSAVE U".
